In Algebra 1 Rescue! professional development sessions, teachers learn how to assess a student’s level of math proficiency and how to best place that student within the algebra continuum. They also learn the importance of teaching algebra concepts before they teach algebra skills. Each session includes hands-on demonstrations and modeling of instructional techniques as well as strategies for using all activities.

One-and-a-Half-Day Implementation Training (Recommended)
This training covers all of the topics in the one-day session, but participants also learn about the value of frequent formal and informal assessment. Teachers spend time preparing a complete lesson plan around one Algebra 1 Rescue! objective.

One-Day Implementation Training
This full-day training provides an overview of the Algebra 1 Rescue!curriculum, including the activity sequence, as participants are guided through lesson content, the Algebra 1 Rescue! research base, and management tips for easy record keeping. The importance of cooperative groups and student interaction is also addressed.

Follow-Up Consultation
Follow-up training is available for districts requesting additional professional support. This training reaffirms implementation fidelity and gives teachers a chance to share advice with colleagues and troubleshoot any problems with theAlgebra 1 Rescue! program in their schools or districts.
