Based on his understanding that we can no longer rely completely
on families to teach children positive social skills and nonviolent
approaches to conflict resolution, Howard Knoff created The Stop &
Think Social Skills Program for educators who want safer classrooms and
environments that are conducive to learning.
The nationally field-tested program, which is organized into four
grade-specific sets (PreK-1, 2-3, 4-5, and 6-8), builds social,
problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills while creating a
system of accountability. Project ACHIEVE, which contains the
Stop & Think Social Skills Program, has been designated as a
model program by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA). It also has been recognized as a CASEL
SELECT Program (the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and
Emotional Learning) and was recently cited as an Exemplary Mental
Health Program by the National Association of School Psychologists.
