A comprehensive literacy intervention curriculum for grades 1-12,LANGUAGE ! prepares students to return to conventional curricula by advancing them from current performance levels to grade placement levels.
LANGUAGE ! Professional Development Courses are sponsored by schools, districts, and county offices of education and are provided throughout the year by the National Council of LANGUAGE ! Trainers in locations across the country. The six-day Professional Development Course prepares professionals to implement the curriculum immediately. The course presents the research base of the curriculum, an intensive review of phonemic awareness training, use of instructional techniques, and much more. There are two basic training course options:
- Five-Plus-One-Day Model: Five-day training (Levels 1 and 2) with a subsequent sixth day for Level 3. The sixth day of training is generally held at least four to six weeks after the initial training.
- Three-Plus-Three-Day Model: Level 1 is taught on the first three days. Teachers then go out and implement this level in their classrooms; they return for two days of Level 2 training about four to six weeks later, followed by one day of Level 3 training.
One- and Two-Day Courses, which overview current scientific knowledge and pertinent information about the curriculum’s implementation for administrators, counselors, content-area teachers, and other professionals who work with at-risk students but who are not directly responsible for literacy intervention, are also available.
